#### The Frontier Town [[Banesford]] is the southern sister city to the town of [[Stone Cairn Vale]]. Run by the Zedaar family, the largest landowner in Central [[Galantor]], there isn't much dispute to the ways of life here. Farmers, herders, and worshipers of [[Zallohse Goddess of the Sky and Grain]] comprise the majority of folk here. Their way of life is simple and rustic and would prefer to keep it that way unlike their brethren to the North. The only time they seem to get along is during the Harvest when they meet at the Twin Trees and celebrate their craftsmanship. The town of Banesford is a sprawling settlement built around a hill that overlooks the rolling plains of Central Galantor. To its South there are hints of the badlands, an inhospitable realm of seldom explored crags, to its East a series of hills leading to the ocean, and to its West the Steppes. It was often thought to be the last place its founder Jedidiah Banesford could imagine living out his days in peace. Now it’s sandwiched by two competing ranches and their farmlands, a bustling little settlement of hard working folks employed mostly by those two families. And in its midst a magnificent stone temple to Zallohse, God of the sky. --- > [!infobox|right wikipedia]+ > # [[Banesford]] > ![[Banesford.jpg|300]] > ###### Banesford > | Settlement | Religion | > | -- | -- | > | <100 Occupants | [[Zallohse Goddess of the Sky and Grain]] | > | **Founder** | **Mayor**| > | [[Jedidiah Banesfree]] | Inaya The Patient | > > # Religious Oligarchy > - Bullet list > - Testing > - Testing > - Testing ```zoommap image: z_Attachments/Maps/Banesford Map AI.jpg # markers is optional; defaults to <image>.markers.json # markers: Assets/Map.jpg.markers.json # Map view limits minZoom: .6 maxZoom: .6 # Size & interactivity height: 700px width: 60% resizable: false resizeHandle: right # left | right | both | native render: canvas # or: dom # Responsive display (fit into width, no wheel/pinch/dblclick pan/zoom) responsive: false # true → always fit; disables pan/zoom gestures # Storage (optional) # storage: note # default is json; use "note" to store markers inline # id: map-1 # optional stable id for inline storage (per code block) # Alignment / wrapping (optional) align: left # left | center | right wrap: true # wrap text; useful with left/right alignment ``` --- ## Church of Zallohse A classically tall, white washed, wooden chapel with a tall steeple presides over the central square of Banesford. The bell in the top of the building dings once at dawn and once at dusk and of course before any spectacular storm. The paint has been a bit worn of late and the grand mahogany double entry doors have been closed more than open as well. But the stained glass windows still look out on the town with an air of superiority. ## Mayoral Homestead The hill that supports the town of Banesford may be known for many things, but on its Western slopes there is only sight of one thing. The Zedaar estate. Walled in from the town at the highest point upon the hill and surrounded by impossible groves of greenery in the fields of golden wheat. This brick monstrosity stands three stories high and sprawls outward as only a stately manor would. It sports a covered port for wagons and wide stone steps leading up to its portico. ## Bolivan Ranch: The Northeastern fields below the hill of Banesford sprawl outward toward Twin Tree Road and off to the East toward the hills and Heartswood. Miles of yellow wheat and fencing keeping pigs in their allotments strain the eyes with distance. A large farmstead marks the Bolivan grounds with a massive entry gate and styled wooden sign. Granary buildings and barns loom beyond the ample wooden homestead. (Pigs and Wheat) ## Cranston Ranch: The southern side of Banesford offers a valley nestled between the town itself and the raising grade to the South and the Badlands beyond them. It’s the last fertile ground before giving up to the elements. Tall fields of green in the summer blot out any lines of sight, but the silos of the farms and the smell of fertilizer greet you long before you can see the corn. Long industrial style ranch houses with adjoining stables stretch on in the fields. (Cattle and Corn) ## Canary Theater The Canary Theater is a lavish and prominent structure opposite the Church. Its long flat forward facing wall runs a good forty feet into the air above its cantilevered entry walk. Bright lights and fresh paint blaze outward from its face, a face that changes every week as the owners prepare a new show. Whether a drink, a meal, or a show is your appetite, you'll find all such things here. ## Zedaar Grain and Feed This arc of buildings facing out to the Western wilderness is home to the Zedaar's businesses. A small conglomerate that runs the mail, feed, milling, and stables of the city. Humble storefronts and active stables paired with the scent of hardworking horse and grain brings any farmer right to peace here. This was once the home of the Reeve's Academy Assassins when the previous mayor Agni Zedaar ran a secret guild for hired murderers. It is now run by his daughter Vita Zedaar after the death of her father and has disavowed all guild activities. ## Reeve’s Academy An imposing block of buildings with an assortment of storefronts and residential structures stands proudly at the Southeastern corner of Banesford. The Academy itself is on the southernmost peninsula of buildings and towers over the rest. An elegant victorian styled manor with black paint and silver trimmed windows, steep pitches and sloping iron fencing surrounding it. Its stately and imposing presence dwarfs the rest of the compound.
